Billups is seeking an Account Director to join our top-notch team in New York City! The Account Director is a senior level position. The purpose of this role is to provide first class service to clients, manage accounts, coordinate with internal teams to ensure campaigns are run successfully from the planning to execution process, and lead the growth and development of the client strategy team. A successful Director, Strategy must be an effective communicator and possess the ability to both work and lead a group in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Main client contact
  • Strategic guidance and team lead
  • Direct leadership of key account assignments
  • Ensuring quality deliverables and direction
  • Identifies opportunities and weaknesses on all accounts and addressing them with the team
  • Provides direction to the team on client goals and objectives
  • Fiscally responsible for client media budgets

planning / buying role

  • Strategic sounding board, contribution and participation in plan development
  • Sets strategic direction that tracks to client goals and objectives
  • Oversees collaborative efforts across functions and departments
  • Responsible for composition of media strategy for assigned clients
  • Can act in place of GMD to support new business and client needs

idea generation

  • Proactively anticipate issues / problems; assist and challenges group creatively identify solutions and facilitate dialogue
  • Provides broad perspective and actively pursues ideas to drive client business
  • Seeks opportunities for client growth

management

  • Manages the planning team with common vision, goals and objectives
  • Motivates groups to realize department goals and objectives
  • Actively seeks growth opportunities for the team
  • Challenges and inspires each team member to highest possible performance level
  • Identifies and develops department needs to foster personal growth
  • Advances Supervisors skills and advises, counsels junior team members

  • Internal (Media Team / Agency)
    • Leader of media and strategic planning

    • Serves as a role model, sets standards for department
    • Supports and fosters open communication
    • Oversees compliance

Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in media planning and development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing or related media field
  • Knowledge of media planning across all forms of media and industry
  • Experience in hiring, managing and leading a team
  • Agency experience preferred
  • Proven ability to create and implement excellent media product on various assignments
  • Demonstrates a focused and strategic approach in plan development and integration
  • Strong and confident negotiating and presentation skills; shows forward thinking and anticipating client needs
  • Capable of interacting and building relationships with team and departments of all levels and industry backgrounds, from the CEO to administrative support staff
  • Knowledge of all media vehicles and ad platforms with emphasis on positive and negative attributes and how they apply to various marketing situations
  • Flexible and effective problem solver
  • Extensive experience with media planning and buying as well as media research tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all functions and departments
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal, presentation and relationship skills; proficient use and understanding of the English language
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Keynote is preferred
  • Independent and self-motivated, yet also team-oriented
  • Must be organized with ability to multi-task and excel in a fast moving culture
